Widzin Bin Land-Based Learning
The Office of the Wet’suwet’en in collaboration with the Bulkley Valley Research Centre and BC Parks is planning a land-based learning event & campout at the Widzin Bin (Morice Lake) Recreational Site August 18 – 19.
The purpose of this event is to support reconnection of Wet’suwet’en knowledge holders, Elders, youth, and families to traditional burning, harvesting and fishing sites. It is our intent that this event will elevate Wet’suwet’en culture, laws, and language in support of the proposed Upper Widzin Kwah Indigenous Protected Area.
There will be boat rides, huckleberry picking,and traditional learning throughout both dates.
All Wet'suwet'en and their families are encouraged to attend this event. Folks staying overnight will need to bring their own tent or camper - Camping equipment will not be provided!
Transportation to/from the Recreational Site will be provided, in the form of busses (route TBD) and an 18 passenger float plane from Tyhee Lake. Note that the float plane has very limited seating, and will be reserved for Elders first.
